Integration of music and culture

Introducing everyone who participated in BCFC and shared music and culture with us.

2024 BCFC

  • Busan Metropolitan Chorus

The Busan Metropolitan Chorus was established in 1972 with the objective to provide Busan citizens cultural opportunities to enjoy high-quality performances. So far, we've performed 190 regular concerts and 650 visiting/touring concerts. Through outreach performances, our choral music has been beloved by a multitude of audiences.
  • The Wonju City Choir

The Wonju City Choir, established in May 1988, was foundationally influenced by conductor Jung Nam-kyu in 1998. It was reorganized into a professional choir in 2006. The choir performs over 60 concerts annually, including regular, planned, and invited performances. Additionally, it strives to provide various cultural benefits to citizens with limited access to music through apartment concerts and visiting performances.

The Wonju City Choir introduces a new paradigm in the Korean choral world, combining the clear and clean sound characteristic of Korean choruses with the deep resonance typical of European choirs. With this distinctive sound, the choir performs a wide repertoire spanning Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and Modern music. Under the unique musical interpretation of conductor Chung Nam-kyu, the choir is highly regarded by music lovers and experts alike, earning the distinction of being "the only choir in Korea capable of performing the orthodox choral works of Northern Europe."
  • The Naju City Choir

The Naju City Choir was founded in June 2016 (Director Ahn Sang-hyun) and has been providing culture and happiness to citizens with performances ranging from orthodox choral music to popular music with great skill and passion. Since Artistic Director Jin Jeon took over in 2022, the choir has presented a variety of programs, including the Steve Dobrogosz Mass, a concert of original compositions on the theme of Naju in collaboration with the Korean Association of Choral Composers and Composers, a performance of an original choral composition commissioned by Do Jong-hwan in 2024, R. Schumann's "Dichterliebe" and "Frauenliebe und leben," and Martin Palmeri's "Misa Tango" in collaboration with bandoneonist Sang-ji Ko.

Following the performance of the musical drama 'Nahye-seok' in 2022, we contributed to local cultural values by presenting the musical drama 'Aransa Abisa' in 2023 in collaboration with the Busan City Theater Company, which adapted the legend of Angam Rock in Yeongsan River in Naju. As a cultural mission, we are enriching the daily lives of Naju residents through lobby concerts, camping concerts, 'Light Garam Park Concert', collaborative concerts with Jeollanam-do Forest Resources Research Institute, and the Naju Festival, which captures the history of Naju.
