Bob Chilcott

UK | President of the Jury

As a composer, conductor, and singer, Bob Chilcott has enjoyed a lifelong association with choral music, first as a chorister and choral scholar in the choir of King’s College, Cambridge, and for 12 years as a member of the King’s Singers. He became a full-time composer in 1997, and has produced a large catalogue of music for all types of choirs which is published by Oxford University Press. His most often performed pieces include Can you hear me?, A Little Jazz Mass, Requiem, and the St John Passion. Bob has conducted choirs in more than 30 countries worldwide and has worked with many thousands of amateur singers across the UK in a continuing series of Singing Days. For 7 years he was conductor of the Chorus of The Royal College of Music in London and since 2002 he has been Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers. In 2017 Bob was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by The Royal School of Church Music and in 2019 took up the role of Principal Conductor with Birmingham University Singers. In 2016 he enjoyed a collaboration with the celebrated singer Katie Melua on the album In Winter. In 2017 two new discs were released by Commotio and Choralis – All Good Things on Naxos, and In Winter’s Arms on Signum, his first recording collaboration with an American choir. His second, Circlesong recorded by the Houston Chamber Choir and Treble Choir of Houston for Signum is due for release in January 2022. Newer recording projects are with the BBC Singers and Wroclaw Philharmonic Choir.

Tommyanto Kandisaputra

Indonesia

Kandisaputra is the Founder, Artistic Director, and Conductor of Studio Cantorum Bandung Choir & Orchestra, Founder and Chairman of Bandung Choral Society. He is also the Artistic Director of the annual world-renowned Bali International Choir Festival in Denpasar. He successfully organized additional choral festivals including the Indonesia Choir Festival, Jakarta World Choir Festival, North Sulawesi International Choir Festival since 2008. During the pandemic situation, organizing 4th World Virtual Choir Festival, Choral Camp and The 6th Symposium On Church Choral Music 2021. He was also appointed to the World Choir Council in 2006 which is the highest international advisory panel of INTERKULTUR in the field of choral music. He became the Indonesian representative for the “One Asia Cultural Ambassador” in 2014 organized by “The Music for One Foundation” in South Korea. In 2016, he was invited to conduct the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Choir at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan, and to be a guest speaker at the Asian Pacific Children Choir Assembly in Okinawa. He was also a guest speaker at Lithuanian’s Conductors Summer Academy 2017, thereafter as a jury at Suwon Choral Festival and clinician at Jeju Senior Choir Festival in South Korea, and Claudio Monteverdi International Choral Festival in Venice in 2019. He founded the Indonesia Youth Choir in 2015, which he now brings to the international stage.

Bo-Mi Kim

South Korea

Bomi Kim, currently serving as an assistant professor of choral conducting & director of choral activities at Yonsei University in Korea, has extinguish accomplishments as a conductor, a teacher, and an administrator. In 2012, she became the choir master of the Vienna Boys’ Choir not only as the first female, but also as the first Asian choir master in its rich history. She held the position until she moved back to Korea in 2016. She served as a main organist and a choir master at the Crosschurch (Kreuzkirche) in Regensburg and also worked as a music teacher at the Music School Regensburg. She was a member and music coach of the Arnold Schoenberg Choir from 2007 to 2015, and with same choir she worked as an opera choir master at the Theater an der Wien. Among significant career highlights, she won the Ortnerpreis which is awarded to the best choral conductor in Austria in 2013. She is currently a music director/conductor of World Vision Children’s Choir Korea, Vocal Ensemble “The Singers”, and Saemoonan Presbyterian Church Seraphim Choir in Seoul. She received her bachelor of music degree in choral conducting from Yonsei University. After studying church music at Regensburg in Bavaria, she moved to Vienna and received her master of music degree in choral conducting, vocal music and Gregorian chant from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She also studied in a doctoral program at the University of Vienna where she majored in Gregorian chant and music theory.

Vytautas Miškinis

Lithuania

Miškinis is the Artistic Director of the Ažuoliukas Boys’ and Men’s Choir, Professor of Choral Conducting at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and President of the Lithuanian Choral Union and renowned composer. He graduated in Choral Conducting from the Lithuanian Academy of Music in 1976. He began his career in Ažuoliukas the age of 7 as a vocalist, and continued as Artistic Director from the age of 25. He conducted the Kaunas State Choir and Vocal Ensemble Museum Musicum. Last 20 years, he was an Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the All-Lithuanian Choir Festivals. He has conducted a great number of compositions for choir with symphonic orchestras. Miškinis worked as a member of numerous adjudicating panels in international Choir and Choral Composition competitions all over the world (over 200 events) including the World Choir Games, Europa Cantat, IFCM, Choralies Festivals, World Symposiums on Choral Music etc. He has composed about 400 religious motets a cappella, 20 Masses, Magnificat, Cantatas, Musicals, St. John Passion, and about 400 secular songs. A great number of his compositions have been published not only in Lithuania but also in Europe, Asia and the US. He has been awarded many prestigious State and Government Prizes. In 2002, as a composer he was nominated Author of the Year. In 2010, Carus Verlag Publishing House, Germany, recorded the CD “V. Miškinis Portrait“ (Consonare Choir), Hyperion in UK recorded the CD “The Time is Endless” (choir of Royal Holloway University).

Eui-Joong Yoon

South Korea

With his great sense of musicality and exquisite conducting, Dr. Euijoong Yoon is one of the leading conductors of choral music in Korea. He graduated from Seoul National University as a violin performance major. He studied at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in choral conducting. He studied with Dr. Rivers, one of the greatest maestros in choral conducting in the USA. After returning to Korea, he had conducted in many different city chorales such as Seongnam, Bucheon, Ulsan, Busan, Daegu, Pohang, Changwon, Masan, Jeju, Gimhae, and Suwon. He also conducted in other professional choirs as a guest conductor. Since 2005, He had worked for ten years as an artistic director and conductor of the Changwon City Chorale. He had been appointed as an artistic director and conductor of the Suwon City Chorale in 2016 and 2017. Dr. Yoon has made many efforts by training choral conducting to students at Hansei University as the dean and a professor. In November 2017, Dr. Yoon was appointed as the Artistic Director and the Executive Conductor of the National Chorus of Korea. Since then, he is putting forth great efforts to show the talent of Korea’s choral music to the world.
